The Tamil Nadu Uniformed Service Recruitment Board was made to select suitable personnel in various categories for the following departments:-
a) Police Department
i) Sub-Inspector of Police (Men & Women)
ii) Grade II Police Constables (Men & Women)
iii) Sub-Inspectors –Technical (Men & Women)
b) Fire and Rescue Services: Firemen
c) Prison Department: Jail Warders (Men & Women)

The Head of Departments of Police, Fire and Rescue Services and Prison will inform the prescribed number of vacancies to the Government for the respective categories by September every year for which recruitment is conducted following year by the TNUSRB as per the Government rules.
The TNUSRB releases notifications for the applications from the eligible candidates. And the announcement will prepared after consultation with the concerned Heads of the Departments. The method of selection, the required conditions of age and educational qualification, and other instructions will mentioned in the statement.
The TNUSRB prescribes different formats of applications for every category of recruitment after taking into account the required qualifications and conditions of services. The application fee shall be collected from the candidates by way of Demand Draft at Government fixed rates.
SI of Police SI (Technical): Rs.250/
Police Constables Grade II /Firemen/Jail warders: Rs.150/
TNUSRB checks the applications. Candidates are allowed to send only one form from one center; more than one application is rejected. The candidates must have the required educational qualification for recruitment as on the date of notification. Age will be noted in the announcement. The candidates satisfying the age and educational criteria are only called for tests, sending call letters to the candidates by the Sub-Committee Chairman particular center.
Applications received scrutinized by the Board. The forms not fulfilling the age, educational qualification and other criteria mentioned in the notifications rejected. Eligible applications are then sorted district wise for preparing Final List.
Centers are earmarked for the recruitment process depending upon the number of candidates applied. Presently 31 centers have been allotted. Recruitment at each center is carried out by a Sub-Committee headed by a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police as the Chairman with three members with the position of Superintendent of Police (SP), Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
For the recruitment of the posts for the Fire and Rescue Services Department and Prison Department. One Member each from the respective Departments are include in the Committee.
The candidates who satisfy the required conditions of age and educational qualifications are then called for the written exam. Physical Test, Endurance Test and Physical Efficiency Test conducted for the candidates. The Board decides the place for the tests. Call letters for the prescribed criteria are sent to the candidates in advance. These tests are conduct at different centers by a Sub-Committee. This Committee includes ministerial staff members, police personnel, sports officers and also medical officers. The Inspector General (IG) of Police will supervise the recruitment process.
Written Test is conducted for Sub Inspector (Technical) in Chennai. A single paper Test contains questions on General Knowledge and Psychology. The candidate who is applying for Police Constable, Jail warder, Fireman ought to secure a minimum of 40 marks out of 80 and Sub-Inspectors of Police must score 35 marks out of 70 in the Written Test. Physical Test is conducted for the candidates who became successful in the Written Test. On the day of recruitment, certificates are verified and ineligible candidates are disqualified by giving disqualification slips at the ground. Eligible candidates are allowed to undergo Physical Measurement Test, which contains Height Measurement and Chest Measurement. Candidates who do not qualify in Physical Measurement test are rejected.
Rope Climbing is a compulsory event For Men Constables and Sub-Inspectors and Long Jump is mandatory for Women Police Constables and Sub-Inspectors of Police. Men must qualify each stage of the Physical Efficiency Test whereas for Women candidates, just participation in all the events are mandatory

TN Police Constable Recruitment 2020: The TNUSRB is going to invite applications from eligible candidates for the post of GR. II Constable, Gr. II Jail Warders & Firemen in June 2020. Candidates would able to apply for TNUSRB through online mode on the official website tnusronline.org.
